Located in the heart of the Valois region, surrounded by hills and forests, the Château de Pierrefonds is a fine example of Medieval art from the late Middle Ages and life during France's Second Empire (1852-1870).
It is also considered a masterpiece of Viollet-le-Duc who, in the late 19th century, showed a flare for creativity and originality in his interpretation of past forms, both in the fields of architecture and interior design.
